Every day there seem to be chores that we need to get done around our home. Many things cannot wait weeks and months between cleanings. And then there are the jobs that do not need to be as often, those that can wait. Some require only to be put on the list when the season change. With the warm weather, it is time to bust out the summer chores list. These we should try and get done before the summer busiest commences. No one wants to be stuck working on the house when they could be enjoying the sunshine.
Patio Furniture
In the winter, the porch does not always get the same use as it does in the warmer seasons. The best time to get it set up and cleaned is when the winter frost goes away. Depending on the type of patio furniture you own, this could be simple or more complicated. Some may need soap and water to be shining like new. Those with fabric to tend you may need to wash and or repair. You want it to be something that people will want to enjoy. If they walk out back and see dirty cushions, they will not want to linger. Each summer, investing in a cover or replacing cushions needs to be on the summer chore list.
Exterior Wash
We scrub the inside of our homes from top to bottom. Why not the outside? Dirt and grime collect on all surfaces. Especially those that are constantly in the elements surrounded by them. Each windy day adds more layers of soil to your lovely home. Summer is the perfect time to give the exterior of your home a good wash. It can be very time-consuming. But, with a good ladder and a couple of extra hands, it is a chore that you can manage. Borrowing a pressure washer from places like Lowes and Home Depot will make it go by in a flash. You will be amazed and the change a little water can make to the appearance of your home. Why pay someone to do something that you can spend a little time and effort doing? Save your money and add this to your yearly summer chore list.
Garage
The garage is where all the boxes eventually end up. By nature, many tend to have a hard time letting go. This is one reason large garages are so popular. They give us the space to keep the things that we are not sure we will ever need again. We put them in and then forget they are there most of the time. At least once a year, we should take the time to go through and get rid of all things that we can live without. Summer provides the perfect opportunity to do this. The weather is excellent, and if we feel adventurous, we can hold a garage sale to make a little back.
